Adequate infrastructure is critical to delivering a world-class visitor experience. The Ministry of Tourism has a long term role to play in supporting infrastructure development in New Zealand.
The Ministry of Tourism works with other central government agencies, local government and infrastructure groups to address infrastructure issues that rise due to growing visitor demand.
Tourism places demand on infrastructure such as roading, broadband, water supply and waste water systems, public toilets, signage and car parks.
The Ministry of Tourism is currently working with government agencies and Local Government New Zealand to assess the gaps in infrastructure assistance and develop a framework for central government investment in local authority infrastructure.
