The New Zealand Maori Tourism Council (NZMTC) is a nation-wide Maori tourism organisation which develops relationships, networks and strategies to facilitate business growth and prosperity for Maori in tourism. This occurs primarily through its 12 Maori Regional Tourism Organisations (MRTOs).
A Collective Voice
The NZMTC provides a collective voice for Maori tourism operators, many of whom are small businesses. For industry and government, the NZMTC provides an accessible point of communication with the Maori tourism sector.
Leadership
At the regional level, the NZMTC provides MRTOs with leadership, guidance and strategic advice.
The Council advocates on the behalf of Maori operators to organisations that can assist, such as the Ministry of Tourism, Tourism New Zealand, Te Puni Kokiri and the New Zealand Tourism Industry Association.
The NZMTC also provides strategic advice to government and other organisations on issues relating to Maori tourism.
