Last updated:

The Tourism and Hospitality Workforce Strategy was launched by the Minister of Tourism in 2006. It aims to ensure that the New Zealand tourism and hospitality sector has the people and skills it needs to grow and prosper.
The Strategy outlines the workforce issues facing the industry, identifies six goals to overcome them and the actions required to achieve those goals.
The Strategy was developed by the Tourism and Hospitality Workforce Leadership Group. The Group comprises government agencies including the Ministry of Tourism, Department of Labour and representatives from key industry associations and industry training organisations.
