Lost Passport/Travel documents
If you lose any travel documents during your stay in New Zealand, you should immediately contact your national embassy or consulate to arrange new documentation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade provides a list of all the Foreign Representatives to New Zealand online.
Any document loss should also be reported to the New Zealand Police as soon as possible.
Dissatisfaction with a good or service
In New Zealand, when businesses sell goods and provide services to consumers, those goods are covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA). The CGA provides a guarantee that, among other things, goods must be of acceptable quality.
The CGA provides consumers with remedies they can pursue against businesses in the event that guarantees are breached. If the fault is small, the consumer must give the business the opportunity to remedy it.
If the consumer is not satisfied with the level of compensation they have received, they are entitled under the CGA to contact the business and ask for compensation that more accurately reflects the value of the service received.
If you would like further information about your rights under the legislation mentioned above, please visit the Ministry of Consumer Affairs website.
