TIANZ - Tools and Templates Compact DiscThe Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIANZ) is based in Wellington and represents approximately three and a half thousand tourism operators and organisations across the industry. Industry Training and ApprenticeshipsIndustry Training is administered by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and has been developed by industry to give the workforce the skills and knowledge that will give New Zealand industry a competitive edge. It is designed to be convenient and cost effective. There are currently over 78,000 Industry Trainees, of whom well over a third are seeking to gain the National Certificates that replaced the traditional ‘apprenticeship orders’. Modern apprenticeships forms part of the Industry Training Strategy and aims to extend the benefits of industry training to young people. Modern apprenticeships makes it easy for employers to recruit and manage talented young people into their workplace and offer a new generation the chance to access quality workplace learning. It is administered by the Tertiary Education Commission who contract the services of 47 Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinater Organisations. The TEC is based in Wellington and also has a network of eleven regional offices. This enables the organisation to respond to sector needs at both a national and regional level.
Aviation, Tourism and Travel Training Organisation (ATTTO)This non-profit Industry Training Organisation works with Maori Tourism Operaters to upskill staff to enable them to gain nationally recognised tourism qualifications whilst on the job. Business Growth ServiceNew Zealand Trade and Enterprise provide grants, from its Growth Services Fund to support high growth potential firms to purchase external advice and expertise, market intelligence and development services. Grants up to a maximum of 50% of the qualifying costs are available for individual or groups of firms to access new business opportunities, skills and expertise, innovation and new technologies and finance. The Fund is only accessible for companies that have a clear and significant growth potential and for whom a development plan has been compiled with an NZTE client manager. Escalator SchemeThe Escalator service has been developed to address one of the main hurdles to growth for the thousands of businesses and entrepreneurs in New Zealand – the lack of access to and understanding of equity/venture capital or strategic partnerships. It replaces the former Investment Ready Scheme. It is aimed at assisting business growth by providing innovative small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurial New Zealanders who need capital to expand, diversify or commercialise a new concept with skills and assistance to pursue investment opportunities. Through the Escalator service participants can develop a greater understanding of the issues around funding their business growth, learn when additional investment is needed and how to access it.
