STAR Programme Applications

The Ministry of Tourism invites applications from organisations wishing to participate in the Sustainable Tourism Advisers in Regions (STAR) programme.

The Ministry will partially fund up to 8 organisations to provide sustainability advice to tourism operators in their region over three years. The funding available is $88,000 per organisation, over three years.

This programme aims to:

  • Provide tourism operators with clear advice and tools for improving their environmental performance and telling their story
  • Prove the value of sustainable advisory services to tourism operators
  • Encourage the uptake of Qualmark
  • Help Qualmark licence holders meet the new Qualmark Responsible Tourism Operations criteria
  • Help deliver on the sustainability goals as identified in the New Zealand Tourism Strategy 2015

Applications

Any organisation may apply, but we think the most suitable applicants are likely to be regional tourism organisations, local authorities and regional development organisations.

Applicants should first read the Information Sheet, and refer to the Guidance Notes within it when completing the Application Form.

Applications should be emailed as an attachment, and a hard copy with any supporting documents posted, by the closing date.

Applications close at 5pm on 13 June 2008.
