New Zealand Major Events

New Zealand has a growing reputation as a world-class events destination. Ensuring we remain competitive on the world stage is a key contributor to the prosperity of all New Zealanders.

New Zealand Major Events is a unit within the Ministry of Tourism. The unit is responsible for administering the Major Events Development Fund, providing secretariat support to the Inter-Agency Events Group (IAEG) and developing a new National Events Strategy.

The IAEG is a group of representatives from twelve government agencies such as Tourism New Zealand, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and Creative New Zealand, which have an interest in major events.
