Wairakei
The Ministry of Tourism manages the tourism and recreation concessions
at Wairakei and advises the Minister of Tourism and the Commissioner of
Crown Lands on tourism issues.
Any enquiry about an occupancy agreement, including rent payments or
change of use should be directed in the first instance to the Ministry of
Tourism.
Any enquiry about recreation group use should also be directed to the
Ministry of Tourism. The southern Wairakei Forest remains available for
recreational use but there is no automatic right of access.

Commissioner of Crown Lands
The Commissioner of Crown Lands has the statutory responsibility under the
Land Act 1948 for issuing any lease, licence or recreation permit to
occupy and use the land. This includes setting rent and fees, renewals and
any legal action when a concessionaire has breached the terms of their
occupancy. The Ministry of Tourism assists the Commissioner in this
process.
If you are a concessionaire and wish to apply for a renewal of a lease,
licence or permit, an application should be made to the Commissioner. The
Commissioner may seek additional information when considering the
application.
