The range and quality of Maori tourism product has grown steadily in recent years. The New Zealand Maori Tourism Council (NZMTC) supports its member MRTOs to build business capability amongst Maori tourism operators, and promote and support Maori tourism interests and initiatives.
Some of these businesses deliver tourism products based on Maori culture, whilst some are owned by Maori but deliver more ‘mainstream’ tourism products.
Maori tourism products represent some of New Zealand’s finest nature-based and historical tours, cultural attractions, art galleries, accommodation and food services.
Maori Tourism Operators
A selection of quality Maori tourism operators can be found at the New Zealand Maori Tourism Council’s Living Landscapes website. Living Landscapes is a promotional framework that aims to introduce international and domestic visitors to quality Maori tourism operators.
