Our Focus
The Ministry of Tourism provides advice and information to government, assistance
to the Minister of Tourism, manages and monitors government investments
in tourism, and undertakes tourism research for the benefit of the tourism
industry.
The Minister of Tourism is the
Honourable Damien O'Connor. The Associate Minister of Tourism is the
Hon
Nanaia Mahuta.
To assist the Minister in carrying out the responsibilities of the tourism
portfolio, the Ministry provides briefings, speeches and press releases, and
answers parliamentary questions and ministerial enquiries.
The Minister of Tourism is responsible for government spending under Vote:
Tourism. This includes spending on tourism marketing, tourism policy, tourism
research and crown assets.
The Minister is responsible for the New Zealand Tourism
Board, the Ministry of Tourism, NZ Maori Arts and Crafts Institute and Rotorua
Crown Lands.
The Minister of Tourism works for the sustainable development of the tourism
industry.
